You will need your parents/guardians help on this one!
·        A Registration Pack has been emailed to you and your parents/guardian (if you have given us their email address).
Your parents can give their consent simply by filling it out and by emailing this Rego Pack back to us.
OR
·        Your school should also give you a hard-copy of the Rego Pack so you can take it home and get it signed, if you prefer the old fashioned method! J Then give it to school reception by Friday – when we will come and pick them up.

You can also download a Registration pack from here!

The critical thing is that we have you confirmed and registered with your parent/guardians consent by this Friday as the program is due to start soon!

What is Permaculture you ask?

Permaculture is about people and the natural environment working together. Nature has been around a long time and it knows a thing or two. Humans are sometimes, well let's face it, just a little bit stupid. But by learning from good old Nature life can be easier and more sustainable for all - plant and person alike. Why make it harder for ourselves?

By working with nature rather than against it we can create living conditions and technolgies that are sustainable for everyone. To learn more about permaculture visit this link.

What is the Permaculture Challenge you say?

This course is fully funded and provided at no cost to 50 young people in our region.

There are many ways to address a sustainable future for our region. The Permaculture Challenge aims to do exactly that.

The Permaculture Challenge is for 14-17 year olds with an interest in a sustainable future.  It is an opportunity for 50 young people to connect with the power of nature, learn the principles of Permaculture and investigate future pathways in one of the fastest growing industries in Australia.

This is a 13 day intensive program delivered over the last 4 weeks of this school year.

A Wilderness Adventure!

We begin with a compelling 2½ day journey. Through a series of trekking, camping and outdoor games in the wilderness, students are led through a succession of team and individual challenges to build their confidence, communication skills, initiative and leadership... and have a great time together in the bush. Where will the wilderness adventure be held? Right here.

What’s in it for me?

  • Increase your confidence, leadership and communication skills
  • Learn life skills that you can use in the rest of your life – in whatever career you choose to do.
  • Be self-sufficient and able to grow your own food – a great thing to know!
  • Travellers and backpackers with Permaculture skills are in demand worldwide.
  • Evaluate if you have a future in the in one of the fastest growing industries in Australia.
  • Make 50 new friends!

The Challenge . . .

The Permablitz challenge – this is permaculture in action! Students form into two teams and the program culminates with the total transformation of two key sites in a single day. These sites will also serve as a productive and permanent reminder of the student’s new found skills. The program finishes with a certification and graduation ceremony on Monday 12th December.

Make sure you fill in the application form and hand it in before the end of term. If you get a place on the Permaculture Challenge your name is automatically in the draw to win one of two Apple iPad2’s.

Applications Friday the 28th of October 2011.

Places filling fast...Good Luck!
